Party president Sonia Gandhi has inaugurated a 10-day meeting on who will be the next president of the Congress.
On Saturday (December 19) morning, Sonia Gandhi began talks with party leaders at her residence. Senior leader Rahul Gandhi was also present at the meetin.
For the last one month, the leaders and workers of the party have been expressing their dissatisfaction inside and outside the party. Recently, 23 influential leaders like Golam Nabi Azad, Anand Sharma, Shashi Tharoor in a letter to President Sonia expressed extreme anger over the situation of the party. After that Sonia called for discussion.
The new president of the Congress is scheduled to be appointed by February next year. Rumors are circulating about who will be the next president of the fragile Congress. But on Friday, party leader Randeep Singh Surjewala said 99.99 per cent of Congress members wanted Rahul Gandhi to lead the party from the front.
