After joining the BJP, former MLA Shuvendu Adhikari shouted against his former party Trinamool.
He went to Amit Shah’s public meeting at Midnapore College ground in West Bengal on Saturday and said, “Get rid of the extortionist nephew.” He was referring to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s nephew Abhishek Banerjee, an MP from Diamond Harbor.
He added that grassroots individualism seemed to be his self-esteem. That’s why he left the team. Expressing his determination to defeat the Trinamool in the 2021 elections, the influential leader said that his goal now is to hand over West Bengal to the Modi government.
Nine MLAs and one Member of Parliament joined the BJP on Saturday holding Shuvendu’s hand. On the other hand, Trinamool Congress leader Kalyan Bandopadhyay called Shuvendu a coward and a traitor and challenged him to win the election in his constituency Nandigram.
Shuvendu Adhikari resigned from the post of MLA on December 15. He left the ministry on November 27.
