The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has framed charges against four people for gang-raping a Dalit girl in Hathras, India.
The chargesheet, formed three months after the incident, said the accused killed the girl after raping her. The CBI has filed a chargesheet in the Hathras court, 200 km from Delhi.
On September 14, four upper caste youths were accused of raping a Dalit girl in Hathras. The girl later died at a Delhi hospital. His last rites were performed near his home on 30 September. Uttar Pradesh police were accused of forcing a funeral late at night.
When the matter came to light, protests erupted in different parts of India, with demonstrations demanding punishment for the culprits.
