India’s agitating farmers are on a hunger strike demanding the repeal of the controversial agricultural law.
They called for a 9-hour fast from 8 am to 5 pm on Monday. He also announced that he will not take any food at this time.
Farmers’ leaders say they have given such programs to strengthen the movement. In a tweet expressing solidarity with the hunger strike, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said, “The farmers’ movement will see success, they will win.”
Meanwhile, Indian media have reported that he will join the farmers’ hunger strike. Besides, Punjab DIG Prison Laxminder Singh Zakhar has resigned to show solidarity with the ongoing peasant movement.
Farmers in Punjab and Haryana have been blocking the Delhi border for the last 18 days. However, they called for a hunger strike as the government has not yet accepted the demand.
