India has also decided to suspend all flights with the UK for the time being for fear of a new strain of coronavirus spreading. In addition to European countries, Saudi Arabia has already temporarily suspended all international flights.
India has decided to suspend flights with the United Kingdom from December 23 to 31. Travel bans have also been imposed in the UK. No planes from the UK will be able to enter India until around 12 midnight on 31 December. Again no plane from India will go to UK.
Discussions began after a new strain of coronavirus broke out in the United Kingdom. Considering the gravity of the situation, the Delhi Chief Minister appealed to the Center to suspend flights with the United Kingdom for the time being. The final decision was announced by the Ministry of Plane Services on Monday.
The ban is effective from 11:50 pm on Tuesday. Until then, passengers arriving in India from the UK will have to undergo mandatory RTPCR testing at the airport.
Last Saturday, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and scientists said a new strain of coronavirus had been identified in the country, saying it was 70 per cent more contagious than the original strain.
Then new worries spread all over the world. Several European countries, including the Netherlands, Belgium and Italy, have already decided to temporarily suspend flights to the United Kingdom.
