Laying of the foundation stone of Central Shaheed Minar in Rajshahi on the day of Great Victory Day.
The foundation stone was laid at the city’s Sonadighi on Wednesday (December 16th) by Golam Arif Tipu, chief prosecutor of the International Criminal Tribunal. He then paid homage to the heroic martyrs of the liberation war at a symbolic Shahid Minar there. Later, Rajshahi City Corporation Mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Liton, MP Fazle Hossain Badsha, linguist Abul Hossain, Mosharraf Hossain Akhunji, and many others paid their respects. Then people of all walks of life called Dhal to pay their respects.
After paying his respects, the mayor told a rally there that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina had allocated Tk 16 crore for the construction of the central Shaheed Minar. Once the construction of the Shaheed Minar is completed, all the programs including Martyr’s Day and International Mother Language Day, Victory Day, Independence Day, Jail Murder Day will be observed here on 21st February.
