Liverpool thrashed Manchester United 7-0 at home, signaling a turnaround. The league table became a strong contender in the battle for the top four. But that Liverpool got the bitter taste of defeat in the next league match.
Jurgen Klopp’s team lost 1-0 against Bournemouth in an away match on Saturday (March 11).
Billing scored in the 28th minute of the match to shock the Liverpool camp. Like the Man U match, Mohamed Salah, Cody Gakpo, and Darwin Nunez could not score.
In the 69th minute of the match, however, Egyptian star Salah, who scored the highest Premier League goal in Liverpool’s jersey, had a chance to score. But he could not send the penalty shot into the net.
The loss is a big blow for Salah ahead of the match against Real Madrid on March 16.
With this loss, Liverpool has retained fifth place in the league table. Fourth-placed Tottenham is ahead by three points (45) after playing 26 matches. However, Newcastle United is in an advantageous position in the fight for the top four. They have picked up 41 points from 24 matches.
