Liberation War Minister AKM Mozzammel Haque has said that a religious business community is using religion as a political tool to oppose the construction of a sculpture of Bangabandhu to seize state power.
He said this while addressing a discussion meeting at the Institution of Engineers in the capital on Tuesday. He added, “Opponents of sculpting must be prevented from being silent.”
The minister also said that those who opposed the construction of the sculpture had opposed the liberation war in 1971. He also remarked that those who are making arrogant statements about Bangabandhu in the name of religion are pitting the language movement, the Bengali language and the just rights of Bengalis against Islam.
