Putin has denied allegations that he tried to assassinate opposition leader Navalny

Russian President Vladimir Putin has denied plotting to assassinate opposition leader Alexei Navalny.

At the annual news conference, Putin said that if Alexei had wanted to assassinate Navalny, Russian special forces could have done so long ago. He also hinted at the names of Russian spies trying to assassinate Navalny as a US tactic to attack Russia.

Putin alleges that Russian businessmen and politicians are accusing him of helping the United States.

According to US media outlet CNN and the investigative agency Bellinket, Russian spies specially trained in the use of nerve agents have been following Navalny for years. The Russian president called the investigation “fabricated” and said it was fabricated by US intelligence.

Last August, Alexei Navalny, known as the anti-Kremlin, was attacked by the toxic nerve agent Novichak.
