Today is the ninth death anniversary of Abdur Razzak, one of the organizers of the liberation war, former general secretary of Awami League, and former minister.

Abdur Razzak was the foremost organizer of every democratic movement of the dying Bengalis from his student life. He played an active role in the education movement of 1962, the six-point movement of 1966, the mass uprising of 1969, and the freedom struggle of 1969.

He was the general secretary of the Bangladesh Chhatra League for two terms. He was elected a member of the National Assembly for the first time in 1970. After that, he was elected Member of Parliament 6 times at different times. Abdur Razzak was also in charge of the Ministry of Water Resources in 1996.

He died on this day in 2011 while undergoing treatment in London. Today, various day-long programs have been organized in his own area.
