CISA, the country’s cyber and infrastructure security agency, has warned that US government agencies and companies are at risk of extreme cyber attacks.
The agency issued the warning after the US Treasury Department launched a cyberattack this week. In a statement on Thursday (December 16th), they said hackers have been trying to launch cyber attacks on various government and non-government organizations and companies since last March. However, the CISA did not say who was involved in the hacking.
Investigators say Russia is behind the hacking. However, Russia’s foreign ministry said the allegations were baseless.
Meanwhile, all federal civilian agencies have been asked to disconnect from the computer network tool SolarWinds. Because hackers have penetrated through this tool.
