'Bangladesh, India to work together to modernize agriculture'

The Agriculture and Commerce Minister said that a number of projects are being undertaken in a joint venture between Bangladesh and India to modernize the agriculture sector.

They said this at a joint virtual conference of FBCCI and CII on Tuesday afternoon. The speakers hoped that the modernization of the agricultural sector would be possible if the two countries work side by side on various important issues including construction of agricultural machinery, seed production, development of livestock and fisheries in a joint venture.

It was informed that a project worth Tk 3,000 crore has been taken to modernize the agricultural sector in Bangladesh.

Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi hopes that Bangladesh will be self-sufficient in onion production and stocks within the next three years.

India was represented by Commerce Minister Piyush Gayal, CCI President TV Narendran, and Tata Steel Managing Director.
