Demand for this specialty has grown significantly as a result of recent coronavirus outbreaks. Although China's exports plummeted due to the Corona epidemic at the beginning of last year, much of the deficit in mask exports has been offset.
Deputy Commerce Minister Qian Kim told reporters that China exported 2.3 billion pieces of safety equipment and 100 million identification kits last year.
Earlier this month, a customs official said masks worth 5.2 billion had been exported.
"The number of masks exported is about 40 per capita worldwide outside of China," said Lee Quen, a customs spokesman.
