Amazon owner Jeff Bezos is the richest man in the world. And last year he set the record for the highest donation. Bezos tops the list of the world's top donors with a donation of 1 trillion in 2020.
According to the news agency, Bezos has made this donation for those who are working to protect the environment. Bezos has a net worth of 16.7 billion. He has made huge donations to the Bezos Earth Foundation in the last year. In addition, he has donated a large amount of money to about 18 voluntary environmental organizations.
Apart from Bezos, those in the top ten of the list have a combined donation of Rs 260 crore. Bezos alone has given Rs 1,000 crore in the first place. The amount of donations has actually increased less than the rate at which the wealth of the worlds rich has increased.
Last year, Bezos' wealth grew by nearly 60 percent. Bezos is followed by Phil Knight and his wife. They have donated the second and third highest amounts. Their donations amount to 900 million US dollars.
Then there are Fred Kumar and his wife. They have donated about 300 million US dollars. They donated the money to improve the Department of Science and Information Technology at the University of Missouri.
The list is followed by Facebook owner Mark Zuckerberg. He and his wife donated about 250 million. They donated the money to the Center for Tech and Civic Life. The organization has worked to ensure that there are no security issues in the US election.
