Researchers have found 30 new types of corona

Researchers at the Department of Genetics Engineering and Biotechnology at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology have discovered 30 new mutated coronaviruses in Sylhet.

Of these, 6 modified coronaviruses have not been found anywhere in the world before and 24 are brand new in Bangladesh but are available in other countries of the world. They made the demand at a press conference in the conference room of the university's vice-chancellor on Tuesday (January 5th) at noon.

GM Noor Nabi Azad Jewel, an assistant professor in the GEB department of the research team, said at the press conference, "We collect coronavirus samples from different areas of Sylhet division and sequence their genomes." From there we find a new mutation in the corona genome (Genome: 27862: Del: ATCAT) that has not been found anywhere else in the world before.

In addition, 47 changes in protein levels were found by analyzing the genes of 10 samples of corona in Sunamganj and Habiganj. Of these, 30 modified coronaviruses are brand new in Bangladesh. The GEB department of Shabiprabir is working with these mutants to discover the nature and variety of corona in Bangladesh. As a result, we will be able to understand in advance through these researches which vaccine will be effective in our country. '

Speaking on the occasion, the Vice-Chancellor said, "We are launching the Corona Identification Lab with the university's own funds. We are also conducting research on the nature and spread of coronavirus, which is a unique achievement of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology.
