Import-export trade between Bangladesh and India through Akhaura land port of Brahmanbaria will be closed for two days.
In the fourth phase, due to the Akhaura municipal elections, trade through the port will be closed from Saturday (February 13) to Sunday (February 14), but the movement of passport holders between the two countries will remain normal. The matter has been brought to the notice of Indian business leaders.
Port Customs Superintendent Mohammad Ali said all customs and port activities would remain normal even if commercial activities were suspended.
Abdul Hamid, in-charge of the Akhaura Immigration Check Post, said that even though the import-export trade activities through the port were closed on the occasion of the Akhaura Municipality election, the passage of passengers with passports would continue as usual.
