At least 11 people have been killed in an explosion at a coal mine in Colombia. At least 4 more people are missing in this incident.
The Colombian National Mining Authority (ANM) said the accident happened on Saturday night in the country's Bayaka province.
The explosion is thought to have been caused by methane gas in a mine located in the Tusco area of the province. In Colombia, coal mining is done by multinational companies as well as many small local companies.
Accidents at coal mines in the country have become a regular occurrence due to the involvement of many illegal organizations. In 2021, about 150 people lost their lives in 128 mining accidents in Colombia.
