AstraZeneca issued the legal notice for failing to deliver Kovishield shipments to other countries under the Covax program, including the United Kingdom.

Seram's chief executive Adar Punawala confirmed the news in an interview, saying the Indian government is aware of the matter. He said, “Efforts are being made to resolve the legal complexities of fulfilling the contract for export of vaccines abroad. Due to the increase in corona infection in India, the Seram Institute has not been able to provide timely vaccination to other countries in order to prioritize the supply of vaccines to its citizens.

In an interview with NDTV, Adar Punawala said that the Serum Institute had failed to meet the obligations under the agreement. However, he said the Indian government was reviewing how to overcome the complication.

Punawala told NDTV that the Serum Institute is under a lot of pressure to produce the covshield vaccine as the number of corona patients has increased in India. Vaccines are needed all over the world. However, we are prioritizing India's needs at the moment.
