Several areas of Kolkata have been inundated by heavy rains in West Bengal.

This has disrupted public life in some parts of the city. Communication is being disrupted. The heaviest rainfall on Wednesday was in the northern part of Kolkata.

Besides, floods have occurred in at least 15 districts including Howrah, Hooghly, and Medinipur. Besides the rescue workers, the army is also assisting in the relief work.

The rain will continue till next Friday, Meteorological Office officials said. Therefore, it has been warned that the floodwaters may increase further.

Meanwhile, 15 people have died in the floods in West Bengal. Hundreds of thousands of people have become homeless. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will visit the affected areas soon.
