Girls above 6th grade cannot go to school in Afghanistan

No female student above 6th grade can go to school in Afghanistan. Even girls' high schools will be closed. The Taliban government has announced.

The Taliban made the announcement on Wednesday, hours after the school reopened seven months later. However, the country's education ministry did not provide details on why such a decision was made. This is stated in a report of BBC.

The Taliban government said in a statement that all girls' high schools and those with female students above 6th grade would not be able to go to school until further notice.

The statement added that the schools would be reopened as soon as a decision is made on uniforms for female students in accordance with Afghan customs and Sharia law.

"Yes, it is true," Taliban spokesman Enamullah Samangani told AFP when asked about instructions for female students to stay indoors. However, he did not agree to comment on the reason for such a decision.

"We are not allowed to comment on this," said Aziz Ahmed Ryan, a spokesman for the country's education ministry.

Students who returned to class for the first time on Wednesday after the Taliban seized power in August last year, after receiving instructions, tearfully packed their belongings and left.

It should be noted that after 20 years, the Taliban took over Afghanistan on August 15. Then, in early September, the Taliban announced the first cabinet of an interim government. However, despite the formation of the government, no country in the world has yet recognized the Taliban government. As a result, most countries in the world, as well as various international donor agencies, have stopped sending humanitarian aid and financial aid to Afghanistan.
