Maden, the mine's operator, said the currently operating gold mine, Mansoura, has found gold deposits in several locations just south of Masarah. The company said that in 2022 they started prospecting for gold in a 100 km wide valley near Mansoura Masareh. Finally, the search has seen the face of success.

The samples collected from different parts of the region have been checked and it has been found that the potential of high-concentration gold is very bright. Two samples were found, one containing 10.4 grams of gold per tonne of mineral, the other containing 20.6 grams.

After finding this new gold deposit, Madden has announced that they will begin extensive drilling in the area in 2024. The company's chief executive, Robert Wilt, told Reuters last October that his company had doubled its gold and phosphate production targets.

According to Maden's statement, about 7 million ounces or 198,500 kg of gold is expected to be produced from Mansoura Masareh in 2023. Madeen is a mining company owned by the government of Saudi Arabia.
