A US B-1B Lancer supersonic bomber crashed on landing in South Dakota.


It crashed near Ellsworth Air Force Base of the US Air Force at around 5:50 local time on Thursday (January 6).


The United States media reported this news in a report by USA Today.


US military officials said the plane crashed while returning to base after a routine training exercise.


The plane had four crew members. They all got out safely. An investigation into the incident has been launched, authorities said in a statement.

The B-1B Lancer is one of the three main strategic bombers of the US Air Force. It was once Washington's top nuclear-armed warplane, carrying up to 24 nuclear bombs. It can carry 227 kg of conventional bombs.
