Toyota tops the list in terms of car sales
In the first half of this year, the Japanese carmaker Toyota has recorded sales of 54.70 million units. Through this, the company has maintained its position as the best-selling company in the world.
For the second year in a row, Toyota has retained the crown of the world's top carmaker. Earlier, in the first half of 2019, Toyota sold a record amount of about 53 lakh 10 thousand units worldwide. The company's strong sales in the United States and China, its main markets, contributed to the record.
Toyota has been able to limit the impact of the chip shortage around the world, a company official said. During January-June, Toyota sold 54 lakh 67 thousand 218 units worldwide. This number is 31.3% more than the same period last year. The figures also include Daihatsu Motor, a manufacturer of the company's sub-brand Mini, and Hino Motors, a truck manufacturer.
